Zero 2dp balance
Weigh 1.25g of NaOH into small beaker
Dissolve NaOH in small amount of distilled water
Using funnel transfer solution to 250cm volumetric flask
Rinse out beaker with deionised water and add washings to volumetric flask
Makeup solution to graduation make with distilled water
Stopper to volumetric flask inverts several times to mix throughly

Purifying organic solid

Answer 2

Cool and filter under reduced pressure using Buchner apparatus
Recrystalise impure by dissolving in minimum amount of hot solvent
Cool - crystallisation and filter again under reduced pressure
Wash with cold water 2 dry

Purify organic liquid containing water

Add organic product so separating funnel
Add distilled water and let layers separate
Aqueous layer is the layer that gets bigger
Allow aqueous layer to run out and collect organic layer in conical flask
Drying agent to get rid of tiny bit of water eg anhydrous CaCl2
Filter or decant
