Organic Macromolecules Flashcards
1
Q
Describe the 4 classes of organic macromolecules we discussed. Please include examples in each class. In general, describe the basic
chemical reaction required to produce these macromolecules
A
The four classes of organic macromolecules:
1. Carbohydrates (glucose)
2. Lipids (phospholipids)
3. Protein (enzymes)
4. Nucleic Acids (DNA, RNA).
They are produced through dehydration synthesis, where monomers are joined by removing water.
