Ether
R-O-R’, ending in -oxyalkane, R-O-R’
Aldehyde
Last carbon has a double bonded oxygen and a hydrogen, ending in -anal, R-CHO
Ketone
Carbon with two R groups and a double bonded oxygen, ending in -anone, R-CO-R’
Carboxylic acid
Carbon with a double bonded oxygen and an alcohol group, ending in -anoic acid, CnH2n+1COOH
Ester
Carbon with a double bonded oxygen and then an oxygen with an R group attached, ending in -anoate, R-COO-R’
Amide
Carbon with a double bonded oxygen and an NH2, ending in -anamide
Amine
Has an NH2 group, ending in -anamide
Nitril
Carbon with a triple bonded N, ending in -anenitrile
Arene
aromatic hydrocarbon AKA a benzene ring
