A

process of fractional distillation
A
- crude oil heated above 350 in furnace to vaporise hydrocarbon mixture
- vapours enter fractioning column
- when temp drops below boiling point it condenses on tray surface
- condensed liquids accumulated are drawn off at specific intervals
- smallest hydrocarbons down condense and remain a gas
