Organelles Flashcards
Generally, what do eukaryotes have interns of organelles?
(8 things)
Cell membrane, nucleus, mitochondria, E.R., Golgi apparatus, vacuoles, cytoskeleton, and glycocalyx.
What organelles do some eukaryotes have? (3 things)
Cell wall, locomotor appendages, and chloroplasts.
How’s eukaryotic flagella differ from prokaryotic?
Microtobules slide past each other in a whip-like motion. Helps identify Protozoa.
What has cell wall? What are fungal cell walls made of?
Fungi and some algae. Chitin or cellulose.
Function of E.R.?
Transport and storage
Rough E.R. Function? Where does it come from?
Important in protein synthesis. Outer membrane of nuclear envelope.
Golgi apparatus function?
Site where proteins are modified to their final composition.
Smooth E.R. Function?
Nutrient processing, and synthesis and storage of nonproteins (lipids).
Lysosomes:
Vesicles that have enzymes involved in intracellular digestion, protection, and removal of debris
Vacuoles:
Contain material that will be digested, removed, or stored.
