Organelles Flashcards
Nucleus:
-nuclear envelope
-nucleoplasm holds chromatin
-nucleolus
-nuclear pores in membrane
Mitochondria:
-mitochondrial envelope
-Cristae- folds of inner membrane
-matrix- contains enzymes used for respiration
-produces atp
Chloroplasts:
Thylakoid- interconnected, stacked fluid-filled membrane sacs
Granum- stack of thylakoid
Grana (plural of granum)- linked by lamellae
Stromatolites- fluid enclosed by inner membrane that surrounds the grana
Golgi Apparatus:
-series of flattened membranous sacs
-stack of curved cisternae
-transports vesicles are made from the endoplasmic recticulum and fuse with GA
Golgi vesicles:
-membrane-bound, fluid filled vesicles
-lysosomes are a type of Golgi vesicle
Ribosomes:
-either free floating in cytoplasm or attached to the cytoplasmic side of the ER
-made of protein subunits
-not covered by a membrane
RER:
-processing and folding proteins
-many ribosomes on surface
SER:
-making and processing lipids
