Organelle description Flashcards
Nucleus structure
Large organelle enclosed by a membrane envelope and has pores. Contais chromosones
Ribosome Structure
Very Smallorganelle not bounded by a membrane. Made of protein and RNA
Golgi body structure
Stack of membrane bounded sacks in the cytoplams
Cellwall structure
Provides mechanical support and protection. Prevents the cell from bursting
Centriloe structure
A pair of short cylinders. Each cylinder id made up of nine fibres
Vacuole structure
A sac bounded by a single membrane. Contais a cellsap which is a mix of sals and other subtances
Mitocondria structure
Has an outer membrane and an inner one which is folded to form cristae. Inside the inner membrane is the matrix containg enzymes, a circular DNA molecule and ribosomes
Chloroplast structure
Surronded by two membrances. Contains a matrix called stroma which has a system of membranes running through it. These are stacked in places to form grana containing chlorophyll. Storma contains circular DNA, ribosomes and starch grains
Lysosome structure
A vessicle containing digestive enzymes
Rough ER
A complex netwolrk of flattened, membrane bound sacs called cristeerane. Has ribosomes on the cytoplamsic side
