symptoms may develop suddenly

swelling and tenderness in one or both testicles

not being immunised against mumps
recurrent UTIs
unprotected sex +/ multiple sexual partners

complications
A
testicular atrophy
scrotal abscess
infertility

A
1 urethral swab for STIs
2 urine test for identifying causative pathogen
