A
  • frontal headaches
  • fevers
  • diplopia or vision loss
  • lid swelling
  • proptosis, chemosis
  • limitation of ocular movements

A
  • usually secondary to ethmoidal sinusitis
  • inflammation causes raised IOP
  • results in optic nerve compression

orbital cellulitis diagnosis

A
  • contrast CT is diagnostic
  • MRI if suspected abscess
  • red, swollen, tender
  • recent infections
  • swab may be positive

A
  • admit for IV antibiotics (empirical and then targeted)
  • take FBC and blood cultures
  • ENT opinion as sinus drainage may be needed
