Oral Presentation Flashcards
Anther
The anther is a structure that composes the stamen. Its purpose is to develop and contain the pollen in the flower.
Filament
The filament is a structure which is part of the stamen. Its main purpose is to hold up the anther.
Stamen
The stamen is a structure that is composed of the filament and anther. Its niche is that it is the male reproductive organ of the flower.
Petals
Petals are brightly colored structures of a flower that are meant to protect its sexual organs and to attract other pollinators.
Sepals

Style

Ovary

Pistil
The pistil is composed of the stigma, style, and ovary. It is the female reproductive organ of a flower.
Receptacle
The main purpose of the receptacle is to attach the flower and all of its structures to the peduncle.
Pollen
The pollen in a flower is used to somehow(usually by wind) get from the anther to the pistil, which will germinate the ovules and create seeds.
