A

means supervision of persons who work under the licensing authority of a licensed psychologist.

  • Work done under the authority of a licensed school psychologist shall not exceed the scope of practice described in division (E) of section 4732.01 and shall be consistent with the previous academic and professional training of the supervisor and the supervisee.
  • Telepsychology may be used in the provision of supervision if conducted in accord with requirements set forth in paragraph (B)(29) of rule 4732-13-04.

(c) Supervisors providing supervision via telepsychology shall:

A

(i) Consider and document findings specific to:
- Whether client’s presenting problems and apparent condition are consistent with the use of telepsychology in the supervisory process to the client’s benefit; and
- Whether supervisee has sufficient knowledge/skills in technology involved in supervision.
(ii) Not provide telepsychology supervision when it is inconsistent with the delivery of supervision via telepsychology
- Whether related to given case or technological knowledge/skills of the supervisee.
(iii) Upon contacts with the supervisee, make reasonable efforts to verify identity of supervisee;
(iv) Obtain alternative means of contacting the supervisee;
(v) Provide alternative means of contacting the supervisor;
(vi) Supervisors use secure communications (e.g., encrypted text messages via email or secure websites or secure real-time video);
(vii) Prior to providing telepsychology supervision, supervisor and supervisee shall enter into a written agreement with accepted professional and legal requirements, relative to: (see separate)
(viii) Ensure confidential communications stored electronically cannot be recovered and/or accessed by unauthorized persons when disposed.

(c) Supervisors providing supervision via telepsychology shall:
(vii) Prior to providing telepsychology supervision, supervisor and supervisee shall enter into a written agreement with accepted professional and legal requirements, relative to: (3)

(a) Potential risks of sudden and unpredictable disruption of supervision and how an alternative means of re-establishing connection will be used;
(b) When/how supervisor will respond to routine electronic messages;
(c) What circumstances supervisor and supervisee will use alternative means of communications under emergency circumstances;

C) Prohibitions for psychological work supervision and psychological training supervision. (13

A

(1) Supervisor shall not provide supervision of psychological work to a person who has administrative or funding authority over them.
(2) Supervisor shall not provide work or training supervision to a person with whom they are associated in any business relationship
- Except where psychologist is an employer of the supervisee for the practice of psychology
(3) Supervisor shall not assume supervisory responsibility for psychological work that they are not personally competent to perform.
(4) Supervisor shall not supervise any person whom they know is illegally providing psychological services to the public
- Either within or outside of the supervisory relationship.
(5) Pursuant to paragraph (E) of rule 4732-17-01 of the Administrative Code:
(6) Supervisor shall ensure no more than two hundred forty work hours are scheduled among all supervisees on a weekly basis
(7) Supervisor prevent exploitation of a supervisee by an agency with which they are affiliated.
(8) Supervisor shall not charge a supervisee for group supervision.
(9) Supervisee shall not use the title “Psychologist” or “School Psychologist”
- Except when supervisee holds active certificate or license granted by Ohio department of education (ODE)
(10) Supervisee shall not solicit clients or generate own case load and shall not represent self as having independent choice of clients.
(11) Supervisee shall not collect fees for psychological work in own name.
(12) Supervisee shall not: (see separate)
(13) Board may refuse to issue a license to any supervisee who violates any provision of Chapter 4732. of the Revised Code or any rules adopted by the board.

(5) Pursuant to paragraph (E) of rule 4732-17-01 of the Administrative Code: (5)

A

(a) No direct family relationship between a supervisor and a supervisee.
(b) Supervisor shall not engage in intercourse or other sexual intimacies with supervisee.
(c) Supervisor shall not engage in sexual harassment or any verbal/nonverbal conduct that is sexual in nature with any supervisee.
(d) Supervisor shall not enter into a supervisory relationship for psychological work as an employee of a supervisee.
(e) Supervisor shall not exploit supervisee for financial gain or with excessive work

(C) Prohibitions for psychological work supervision and psychological training supervision.

(12) Supervisee shall not: (5)

A
  • Independently advertise;
  • Use business cards or other listing that identifies any procedure/technique performed;
  • Announce establishment of a practice;
  • Have own name included on business letterhead stationery, office building directory, office suite entrance door; or in any electronic or other directory under a title incorporating “Psychologist” or “Psychology”; or,
  • Otherwise hold self out to the public as being authorized to provide independent services.
  • Notwithstanding these prohibitions, the following shall be allowed:
    (a) Supervisee’s earned degrees, credentials granted by state of Ohio, and appropriate job titles (as long as they do not confuse client’s)
    (b) Supervisee may use business cards that has supervisee’s name, appropriate title, supervisor’s name and license number, and supervisory relationship are stated.
