Why are some nutrients not essential?
Because another nutrient can be used for the same purpose or our body can create the nutrient.
What may be a side effect of lack of vitamin D and calcium?
They affect bone mineralization so a lack may cause rickets or ostemalacia.
What the essential nutrients?
Some amino acids, some unsaturated fatty acids, some minerals, calcium, vitamins, and water.
What regulates our appetite?
A centre in hypothalamus.
How does the appetite control centre work?
The small intestine secret hormones was when filled with food, pancreas secrete insulin when blood glucose concentration is high and adipose tissue secrete the hormone leptin when fat storage is increased. When hypothalamus receive these hormones it reduces our appetite.
What are consequences of being overweight?
Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
