Optics Extra Flashcards
Explain fluorescein angiography. After injecting dye what happens?
Absorbs BLUE (465-495nm) light and emits YELLOW/GREEN (520-530nm)
After injecting dye, white light passes through cobalt blue excitation filter and enters eyeball. Particles will be excited in such a way that only blue particles enter eyeball and reaches retina
Once reaches retina, green and blue light rays are reflected back and face the barrier filter. This barrier filter blocks blue light coming from eyeball., only allowing yellow/green light to pass through. This exposes the camera film to only yellow/green light to produce fluorescein image. This flourescein image delineates vascular structures and leakage of dye
