What is keratitis?
Inflammation of cornea

Staph aureus
Pseudomonas aeruginosa in contact wearers
Management of keratits?
Stop wearing contacts
Topical abx- 1st line quinolones
Cycloplegic for pain relief- cyclopentalate
Non painful red eye. Vessels move when pressed
Episcleritis
Red eye. Difference between episcleritis and scleritis
Scleritis is painful, episcleritis is not. Scleritis has deeper vessels, episclertiis vessels are on surface so move when pressed
Management of episcleritis
Conservative
Artificial tear drops if needed
What conditions are assosiated with episcleritis?
Inflammatory bowel disease
Rheumatoid arthritis
What eye condition do you see drusen in?
Macular degernaration- drusen spots are yellow spots seen
Features of macular degeneration?
Reduced visual acuity
Dark blindness
Flashing lights
Distortion of straight lines- seen on Amslers grid testing
Blood in anterior chamber of eye, proptosis (bulging eye), stiff eyelid and relative afferent pupillary defect after trauma. Diagnosis and management?
Orbital compartment syndrome
Urgent opthalmoscopy review for immediate canthotomy- surgical decompression
