AA Flight Ops “priorities”
Safety, Customer Service, Operating Economics
The captain must conduct the takeoff (ground roll through clean-up) when visibility is
less than:
- 1600 feet RVR for any RVR on that runway
- 1/4 statute mile (if no RVR is reported for that runway)
Before landing, a __________ MUST ALWAYS be obtained/determined
Landing Performance Assessment
If no ________ is shown on load closeout, obtain a revised closeout prior to takeoff.
R/A
“Paper, Plastic, Metal” refers to….
Make sure the PAPER flight plan/documents match the PLASTIC airplane logbook and both match the actual METAL airplane itself
Threat Level-1 example
Passenger arguing with FA. No physical touching
Threat Level-2 example
Passenger choking another passenger
Threat Level-3 example
Passenger says he has a bomb, wants to talk to Captain
Threat Level-4 example
Passenger physically attempting to kick in cockpit door
“Fail Operational” means…
A component can FAIL but the aircraft remains fully OPERATIONAL
“Fail Passive” means…
A failed component requires that the PILOT intervene. P = Pilot.
Min RVR for Fail Operational
300/300/300
Min RVR for Fail Passive
600/400/300
If an upset exceeds the following parameters, the flight control computers will engage
abnormal attitude law:
Bank angle above 125°
Pitch attitude above 50° nose up or below 30° nose down
Speed below 60 to 90 knots (depending on the aircraft pitch attitude), or above
440 knots
Mach above 0.91
Angle of attack above 30° to 40°, or below -10°
