what were the events of the kapp putsch
right wing
- led by wolfgang kapp,and friekorps leader walther luttwiz &herman erdhart
- 12th march stormed berlin and the gov fled
- most of the soldiors would’nt fight the rebels
- annoucened themselvves as the new gov
- trade unions called for a strike demanding an end to the putsch,, 4 days after the strike began the pursch collapsed, wiemar gov returned to berlin and kapp was imprisoned

weimar oppostion
- led by hitler and the nazis, SA stormed a beer hall in munich were gustav von car and other officials were meeting
- announced the baverian governemnt to be desposed and that hitler and ludendorf were to establish a new one
- forcing the oficials they agreed to aid hitler
- the officials came with police back up and 16 people were shot anf hitler was trialed

- firstly the nazis banned all political groups and oppostion parties[ kpd&spd]
- prisovers were imprisoned in concentration camps without trial[injustics]
- public meetings were dangerous to hold fear of being anti-nazi

leaders were arrested in december by the gestapo by 1938 they were easy to trace so oppsotion was mainly word-of-mouth snd not form organisations

- edelweiss pirates - working class movement , wore their own uniform to make a stament they would run their own activities eg, hiking collected anti-nazi leaflets from allied planes, painted anti nazi slogans on walls
- white rose groups, operated in secret distributed anti nazi material , exposing the nazi murder of jews , urging not violent resistance -
how did the nazis respond to these youth groups?
- members of the white rose groups caught and executed

hitler was aware of the power of religious beliefs, he wanted the loyalty of the german people and signed a concordant with the pope which stated that hitler would leave the catholic church alone if it did not interfere with german politics.

- the removal of the old testament caused an outrage , the pastors emergancy league was developed which turned into the confessing church , condemed the peoples church for obeying the state , spreading anti-semintims and encouraging athism
- members of the confessing church were arrested and some were executed
