SE of the opioid

A
  1. common and mild: N/V/C, urinary retention
  2. miosis (except pethidine)
  3. drowsiness (except pethidine will cause hallucination, convulsant, restlessness)
  4. postural hypotension, bradycardia
  5. immunosuppressant
  6. dependence (withdrawal sx), addiction and tolerance –> risk of overdose
  7. overdose: severe sedation, resp depression
