SE of the opioid
A
- common and mild: N/V/C, urinary retention
- miosis (except pethidine)
- drowsiness (except pethidine will cause hallucination, convulsant, restlessness)
- postural hypotension, bradycardia
- immunosuppressant
- dependence (withdrawal sx), addiction and tolerance –> risk of overdose
- overdose: severe sedation, resp depression
