What is the external document hierarchy?
- Regulatory Documents (federal and provincial regulations/licenses).
- Standards and Codes (CNSC Standards, CSA Standard N286-12, other Standards and Codes (ISO, ASME, etc.))
- Corporate Policies
What are the obligations of workers under the safety and control act?
- Use equipment, devices, facilities and clothing to protect the environment, people, determining radiation doses/dose rates in a responsible manner.
- Comply with measures established to protect the environment, people, security, and control radiation doeses to people and/or the environment.
- Inform supervisor of increase in risk to the environment or safety of people, to security, failure to comply with regulations, the act of sabatoge, or the unauthorized release of a radioactive./hazardous substance to the environment.
- Observe and obey all notices and warning signs in accordance with Radiation Protection Regulations.
- Take all reasonable precautions to ensure your own safety, safety of others, protection of the environment, protection of the public, and the maintenance of security.

What is the PLNGS tier 1 document?
The Nuclear Management Manual (NMM) which describes the management system, high-level policies, principles and processes through which the station achieves it’s mission, goals and performance objectives.
What is an operator burden?
An equipment deficiency or plant condition that during normal operation will require an operator to perform compensatory actions.
What is an operator workaround?
An equipment deficiency or plant condition that during abnormal or emergency operations will require an operator to perform compensotaory actions.
What is a compensatory action?
Actions taken by production personnel instead of, or in addition to normal actions.
These actions have the potential to induce a plant transient or impede the production personnels ability to effectivey respond according to plant procedure’s.
What are the minidot colours used on Mylars and what do they stand for?
- Blue- device config is documented by a PSCR
- Yellow- device is throttled
- Red- device position allows flow
- Green- device position does not allow flow
What are the coulours and meanings of the 1x3” stickers that can be applied to Mylars?
- Blue- a PSCR is installed
- Red- a WCD is installed
- Yellow- temporary discrepency between the system and Mylar
What does a step-by-step procedure entail?
A step-by-step procedure must have a step read and understood prior to starting, requires proper placekeeping, must be at the work location, and requires a sign-off after step completion.
What circumstance demands a step-by-step procedure be used?
A step-by-step procedure must be used for complex or infrequent work which consequences of incorrect action are immediate and possibly irreversible impact on safety, production, or reliability.
What does an In-Hand procedure entail?
An In-Hand procedure is required to be open at the work location to the appropriate page, and may be periodically reviewed to ensure understanding of a step or group of steps.
What circumstance demands an In-Hand procedure be used?
In-Hand procedures are used for complex or infrequent activities for which the consequences of an improper action are not immediate and not irreversible.
When is a For Information procedure used?
A For Information procedure is used as reference material for use or training, but is not necessarily required at the worksite.
How should equipment in the Reactor Building be tagged/labelled?
Without use of paper, plastic, stickers or placards with adhesive. Identification should be done with metallic (non-aluminum tags).
What colour are danger signs required to be (text and background)?
Danger signs are required to be white letters on a red background.
