OFF
Time the wheels of an aircraft leave the ground at the departure city.
ON
Time the wheels of an aircraft touch down on the runway at the destination city.
IN
Time an aircraft’s wheels are chocked upon arrival.
OUT
Time aircraft chocks are removed from a departing flight.
ACARS
A Communications Addressing & Reporting System- Digital data-link system used for real-time communication between aircraft and ground personnel.
AOA/RAMP
Airport Operations Area- Regulated under 49 CFR 1544; includes aircraft movement areas, loading ramps, and safety areas, for use by aircraft and any adjacent areas that are not separated by adequate security systems, measures, or procedures.
AOSSP
Aircraft Operated Standard Security Program- A TSA-approved standard security program adhere to by Commercial aircraft operators. A paper or electronic version must be accessible during aircraft operations at all SkyWest stations.
APU
Auxiliary Power Unit-Internal Power source that provides electricity and air conditioning for an aircraft.
CAPPS
Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System- Counter-terrorism system in place in airlines’ computer systems used to screen passengers for certain criteria.
CLR
Cargo Load Report- Primary document used to communicate weight and balance information to the flight deck. completed by the designated loading agent to accurately record the items loaded on to an aircraft (baggage, cargo, passengers).
ETA
Estimated Time of Arrival- Time estimated for an aircraft to arrive at gate
ETD
Estimated Time of Departure- Time estimated for aircraft to depart from gate.
FOD
Foreign Object Debris or Foreign Object Damage- Objects such as coins, rocks, metal objects, trash, etc. That can injure personnel and cause damage to the aircraft when ingested into the aircraft engine or blown by aircraft exhaust. Agents must pick up FOD and dispose of it in approved containers when working on the ramp.
HAZCOM
Hazard Communication- Program developed to communicate information on the hazards of chemicals to employees by means of labels, material safety data sheets (MSDS) and training programs.
IOR
Irregular Operations Report- SkyWest internal electronic reporting system used to document any extraordinary or unusual occurrence (accidents, incidents, FAA/TSA inspections, ect).
