What is subjective well-being and what does it encompass (include)? 

A

SWB, refers to how individuals evaluate the emotional state, including both general assessments of life and specific responses to experiences, interactions, and emotions. It includes emotional and cognitive qualities, such as mood regulation, emotional suppression, respond inhibition, metacognition( awareness of your own thought processes), making it comprehensive measure of individual’s resilience in real life.

What are the three crucial components of SWB and how they are measure?

A

Life satisfaction: is an evaluation of one’s entire life ( I think my life is great, good job, income, achieved goals, high self esteem) and typically assessed with tools, such as SWLS.
Positive Affect: a measure of the presence, intensity, frequency, and resistance of positive emotions and moods like joy and happiness. (enjoying life, loving other interesting, work supportive friends)
Negative Affect: A measure of the occurrence of negative emotions, such as sadness, anger, playing a significant roll in well-being reports.

How do external factors and cognitive processes influence SWB measurements?

A

External factors such as personality thraits, genetics, social economic status, demographic characteristics, career details, family history,engagement in religious or spiritual activities heavily influence SWB. Cognitive processes also play a crucial role individuals with higher cognitive regulation capacities often perceive and evaluate their lives as happier. Another element is meaning in life, which combines, emotional cognitive and motivational dimensions.
