RIC “Standby Mode” responsibilities
Briefing - who / location of personnel Assemble a cache of tools Soften up structure Identify egress and entry Throw ladders, secondary lines Monitor all assigned frequencies.
When do we go to defensive mode?
Danger of imminent collapse.
Heavy fire
To protect exposures.
RIC “Deployment Mode” responsibilities
Name, rank, assignment, last know location Begin search at last know location When found, provide care. Give a CAN report Coordinate with Attack for rescue help/
Who is responsible for all tactics on a Complex fire?
Each Division Supervisor is responsible for all tactics on the division.
When do you need a back up line?
Whenever there is an interior attack line.
Back up line shall be deployed and staffed.
Unless primary line can handle quickly.
Two RIC modes
Standby Mode
Deployment Mode
Fire Attack Group - basis responsibilities.
Develop tactics to achieve incident objectives.
Conduct primary search.
Locate, confine, contain and control fire
Request resources
Communicate progress
Coordinate with support
Assist with overhaul.
Water Supply requirements on Structure fires.
Continuous, adequate water supply no less than 400 gpm within the first alarm.
