Urgent assessment for radiotherapy or surgery

A
Back pain (earliest and most common) Lower limb weakness Sensory changes Upper or lower motor neuron symptoms Tendon reflexes increased below lesion

A
Dyspnoea Swelling of face, neck arms Headache Visual disturbance Jugular venous disturbance

Management of SVC obstruction
A
Dexamethasone
Balloon venoplasty
Stenting
If small cell: chemo and radio
If non small cell: radio

Symptoms of hypercalcaemia
A
Early: lethargy, anorexia, polyuria/dypsia, nausea, vomiting constipation
Late: confusion, drowsiness, fits, coma

Management of hypercalcaemia
A
Fluids, bisphosphonates IV
