Sapcial omics
What is Next Genereation Sequencing NGS
The genereation of the DNA sequence of a sample, that is more efficient and faster than conventional methodes like sanger sequencing.
Fragmentation of the Sample into DNA fragments and addition of adaptatameres to the ends –> Fixation of fragments dependent on the adaptameres to oligonucleotides –> step wise string synthesis with florescent Nucleotides
–> ID of fragments that are then compared to a reference to generate the original DNA
What are Micro arrays and what can you use them for?
Micro arrays provide fixated gene specific binding partners for a fragmented DNA sample that allows to ID the genes present in that sample and the amount of copies of that gene present in it.
What increases from Genomics over Transcriptomics up to Proteomics
Variation of the samples increases, RNAi lowers the amount of RNA present in the cell, exon splicing changes the amount of protein seen in genomic snd transcriptomics. The proteasome is also Dynamic (with time, spacial, developmental and formes complexes)
What is differential expression and what enables the visualisation there of
Differential expression compares the amount of genes expressed under a certain parameter (e.g. T or the presence of other molecules) to allow further analysis with system biology and the mapping of pathways
How can Omics be used in Precision medecine?
Can help to ID markers for different subgroups of Hereogenous disease, allowing for specific medication with less side effects and higher efficacy.
