OMA Flashcards
Responsibilities of PIC
The PIC is responsible for the:
Start, Continuation, diversion and end of the flight;
(Note this a joint responsibility with the flight dispatcher with regard to planning)
Operation and safety of an aircraft during flight
Safety of persons and cargo carried on aircraft
Conduct and safety of the crew on the aircraft.
If on Duty travel how long before departure should you be in the departure lounge.
At least 30min prior to departure time for that service.
When operating away from home base are Flight Crew allowed to leave the country where the company allocated accommodation is?
No, unless approved my the MLO or Chief Pilot.
Can a Flight Crew member level their seat during a level change?
No, Two pilots must always be seated at the controls during a level change.
On the A321 on RPT or Charter above what passenger configuration are 5 cabin crew required.
Above 200 pax configuration. If conducting a ferry flight with ZERO pax. the cabin crew numbers may be reduced with approval of of the Duty Capt.
Whom is permitted flight deck access?
Operating Crew
Authorised persons on duty and performing regulatory functions.
Persons authorised by the GMFO with a safety, operational , familiarisation or training purpose.
JPA staff on duty or staff travel with a valid boarding pass for the flight when no seat in the cabin is available.
What is the cockpit door procedure?
Crew members name
Flight deck entry password
Nature of business
Are JPA pilots allowed to conduct private flying while not on company service?
Yes, but only up to 25 hours per calendar year. More details regarding restriction in OMA section 3, 3-51.
On a non ILS approach how many feet must be added to the minima?
50 feet
Define a main airport
A main airport is an airport to which JPA regular schedules a specific aircraft type. It is only considered to be main for the specific type.
Define an Alternate airport
An alternate airport is an airport specified in the flight plan to which a flight may proceed when it becomes inadvisable to land at the airport of intended landing. A main airport may be nominated as an alternate airport.
The nominated Alternate is stable as a destination for the flight AND is not an aerodrome for which that flight would be required to provide for an alternate.
Define a contingency airport
A contingency airport has minimal or no ground handling in place and extensive delays would be expected after landing at such a port.
Pilots would only use a contingency airport in the event that all other Main, Alternate and adequate airports are not available.
Define an Emergency airport
An Emergency airport is an airport at which it is reasonable to expect to safely land the aircraft if there is an immediate risk to the safety of the aircraft.
Define a Adequate airport
Is an airport having physical characteristics that include minimum requirements such as runway length and width, strength, parking, lighting and navigation availability.
An adequate is not assessed as a main or alternate airport.
Define a suitable airport
A suitable airport is a company approved Main or Alternate airport which is forecast not to require an alternate for the applicable period. If the airport is forecast to have a tempo it may still be used as a suitable airport if the appropriate holding fuel is carried.
What is a take off Alternate?
A take off alternate is required when the take off conditions are below the lowest appropriate published minima. A take off alternate should be within one hours flying time from the departure with one engine inop.
For A320 427nm
For A321 405nm
What are the company route distance limitations?
Company aircraft may not operate on routes where flight time to an adequate or suitable airport exceeds 60 min at single engine cruise speed.
A320 427nm
A321 405nm
Preflight, When is a single alternate only required?
The planed flight time from take off to landing is less than 6 hours.
Two separate runways are available and usable.
Wether forecast for the one hour before and one hour after the planned arrival time. indicate ceiling of at least 2000’ or circling plus 500’ (which ever is greater) and atlas 5km visibility.
Or the destination is isolated and no adequate destination alternate exists.
Note: CAAV require min one Alternate for all flights regardless of the conditions.
