OM-A Flight Planning Flashcards
What is minimum recommended altitude when flying offshore in windy conditions?
1000 feet to avoid seaspray and salt-laden
When should you use RAD ALT. when flying offshore?
Offshore flights below 1000 feet should be maintained with refererence to RAD ALT.
What is minimum obstacle clearance on IFR flights for elevations up to 6000 feet.
1000 feet. (If in VMC you can maintain lower separation)
What is minimum obstacle clearance on IFR flights for elevations above 6000 feet.
2000 feet (If in VMC you can maintain lower separation)
When altimeter is set to QNH, all minimum altitudes shall be corrected for ?
Strong winds and temperature deviation from ISA
When altimeter is set to 1013 , all minimum altitudes shall be corrected for ?
Winds, temperature deviation from ISA and pressure.
What is the correction rule when flying on minimum usable FL in controlled airspace in Norway
ATC corrects for temp. and pressure, so the commander should correct for strong wind.
Temperature corrections (rule of thumb)
Add 4% to the height for each 10 degrees C. below ISA.
Wind correction (rule of thumb)
Increase minimum 500 feet for every 10 kts. wind above 30 kts.
Pressure corrections
When altimeter is set to std. 1013, add 30 feet for each QNH below 1013.
Wind limitations for shut down offshore on stable deck?
Normally 40 kts, but if helicopter is stationed offshore it can be higher, limited to flight manual.
Wind limitations for shut down offshore on unstable deck?
25 kts.
AS 332 L1 D-Value
18,70 meters
When need take-off alternate?
When not able to land back, wheather below landing minima.
Take-off alternate requirements
Within 60 min (cruise speed)
OEI approach/landing
Above landing minima
+/- 1 hour ETA
