old qna Flashcards
In a sentence or two, tell us what the study is about.
This study aims to explore Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School young women’s perspectives on using bamboo sanitary pads as eco-friendly alternatives.
What made you decide to conduct this study?
The group conducted this study to enhance women’s menstrual well-being, promote healthier menstrual products, and underscore bamboo sanitary pads’ health and environmental advantages.
How will your study contribute to the existing body of knowledge?
This study offers a thorough examination of young women’s experiences with traditional sanitary napkins, highlighting the potential for eco-friendly menstrual hygiene practices. It can serve as a model for other educational institutions.
What is the existing gap in your study? Did you bridge any gap?
In our studies, I’ve identified a significant gap related to the health and environmental concerns associated with traditional sanitary pads containing harmful chemicals like phthalates. Our research aims to address this gap by exploring the benefits of bamboo sanitary pads, which pose NO HEALTH RISKS and are environmentally friendly. As Ateneans, we value eco-friendly practices and believe that promoting non-plastic alternatives like bamboo sanitary pads can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.
How can your study be put into practice?
The study’s findings can be applied by introducing bamboo sanitary pads, conducting awareness campaigns, and using it as a model to promote sustainable menstrual hygiene practices among female students at Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School and potentially in other educational institutions.
How can you relate the existing theories to the results and findings?
The existing theory of Behavioral Change by Albert Bandura helps the group better analyze and interpret future results, once the data gathering process has commenced. Since, this theory serves as the key foundation for understanding the connection between one’s environmental factors and their decision making abilities, with regards to their individual health. Which in this study’s case are reasons and barriers hindering women to shift to bamboo sanitary pads and their perception to this healthier alternative.
What’s the scope of your study?
This research aims to evaluate the accessibility, awareness, and affordability of bamboo sanitary pads among female students at Ateneo de Davao Senior High School, with a focus on highlighting the health and environmental implications of disposable/traditional sanitary pads, as well as encouraging informed choices for more eco-friendly and sustainable menstrual hygiene practices.
What’s the relevance of your work to other studies?
This study has broader implications for understanding sustainable menstrual hygiene practices and the adoption of eco-friendly menstrual products among young women in educational settings. It provides valuable insights applicable to related fields like environmental sustainability, public health, consumer behavior, and women’s empowerment, with a specific focus on the perspectives of young women. The findings also serve as a valuable reference for institutions and researchers aiming to promote sustainable menstrual hygiene practices and eco-friendly product adoption among female students in diverse educational settings.
Why is your research significant to society?
This study aims to offer a sustainable menstrual option by addressing traditional sanitary pad shortcomings, benefiting Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School’s female stakeholders and contributing valuable insights for future research. It seeks to enhance awareness of bamboo sanitary pads and the potential drawbacks of conventional products.
Who will be most interested in your study? Why?
Women, particularly those unaware of the health risks associated with traditional sanitary pads and hindered by affordability barriers and stigma, will find our study valuable. By revealing healthier alternatives like bamboo sanitary pads, the research aims to enlighten women about options that can enhance their menstrual experience.
What phenomenon are you trying to understand through this study?
This study aims to assess the performance of bamboo sanitary pads in absorbency, leak proofness, comfort, and overall satisfaction. Additionally, it investigates the environmental impact, women’s perceptions, behavioral changes, and barriers associated with shifting to bamboo sanitary pads as an alternative to traditional ones.
Summarize the Review of Related Literature in your Chapter 2
In summary, the literature highlights bamboo sanitary pads as a promising alternative to traditional options, emphasizing their comfort and sustainability. However, challenges such as cultural barriers, awareness gaps, and affordability issues must be addressed for optimal utilization. Researchers should prioritize cultural sensitivity, affordability strategies, and explore broader environmental impacts to develop a comprehensive menstrual hygiene management approach, promoting women’s health and reducing environmental impact.
What is the research approach in your study? Why did you choose this?
For our research on bamboo sanitary pads, we chose the qualitative-phenomenological research design. This helped us to delve deeply into the lived experiences and perceptions of the participants. We conducted in-depth interviews to explore their perspectives, experiences, and insights. To analyze the qualitative data, we used the Braun and Clarke thematic analysis framework for its systematic and rigorous approach to identifying recurring themes.
Who are the stakeholders that will benefit from your study? Cite them and what they can get from your study.
This research primarily benefits Ateneo de Davao University Senior High School female learners by offering a more comfortable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional sanitary pads. It also guides school staff and administrators in adopting environmentally conscious practices, addresses the needs of women with heavy flows, provides sustainable options for parents and daughters, and serves as a foundational reference for future researchers to inspire more advanced ideas for societal benefit.
What is the chosen theory and how did you use them as a springboard for analysis for both chapters 4 and 5
Our study applies Dr. Albert Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory to examine the diverse factors influencing women’s choices of sanitary pads, encompassing personal factors like cognitive and affective characteristics, as well as environmental factors like the availability and affordability of bamboo sanitary pads. By using this theory, we aim to raise awareness about the benefits of bamboo sanitary pads and address barriers hindering their adoption among women.
