1. Undertake first aid if appropriate
2. Carry out initial scene examination (C/F/P)
3. Verify death has occurred
4. Obtain a medical certificate as to cause of death
5. Formally ID deceased
6. Remove the deceased to the mortuary

POL47 Form = Initial Report to the Coroner

• Summary, chronological order covering detail and circumstance of death.
• Add as much detail as possible time/dates etc
• Ensure NOK are given “when somebody dies brochure”
