OEB COMBAT questions Flashcards

Q

How are you resourcing the ME to achieve its task?

A

A Coy as ME is resourced:
1 - TASKORG: Remaining intact w/ other BGs assuming RASF and roles in cut-off. It has been reinforced w/ Tank / TOW / Engrs / EOD IOT ….
2 - WFF: At the decisive pt A Coy will rx priority of fires, priority of mobility and spt fm ISR

A

Balanced TASKORG, Sit Res, control of lateral enabling switch of ME, CS elms postured to switch effort (OS centerline, UAS). Depth in aslt on the Decisive

Q

Surprise?

A

Satisfying an expectation early e.g. Present Tank/Tow indicating ME on an expected route gaining his confirmation bias, I’ll then
Defy his expectations by advancing the ME on different rte, attacking fm different direction - getting him off balance
Exceed an expectation by
Cond actions in DZ 1 and 3 faster than his intended SoM whilst going slow in DZ2 where he expected to go fast

Q

Tempo?

A
  • Appropriate phasing of the operation, ensuring work is divided evenly, preventing culmination.
  • Effective resourcing of tasks from task-org
  • Effective recon-pull, ensuring actions are targeted and conducted at the right time.
  • Effective sustaining e.g. Ammo Points to SBFLs and cond reorgs after engagements.
  • Get the en off-balance then constantly keep pressure on. e.g. By maneuvering in this gap whilst simultaneously fixing Obj GOLD and Neut his OS in depth I have got the en off-balance. I will then maintain continuous pressure by maintaining contact forcing the en to assess multiple changing situations and force an unfavourable decision.
  • Securing boundary to conduct FPoL early.

Q

Security?

A

Flank gd/screen providing early wng/ preventing interference, denying en ISR to cue their offensive action, OPSEC
Specifically - I have enabled the ME to cond action without interference by …
again at the BHOL

Q

How/Where are you seizing the initiative?

A

•Surprise – Presenting the en with an unexpected action being my advance on rte X, forcing them to react and abandon their preferred SoM, this sets the conditions for ……
•Tempo - I will seize the initiative once I have destroyed the en Mvr/AT Res and neutralized his OS, enabling my FoM and degrading his own. At this point, he is unable to control the speed and direction of my atk.
oOnce I have fixed him on the decisive terrain I have stolen the initiative from him as he is subject to my control and is unable to carry out his plan.
•By attacking an en vulnerability early, I have put the en off-balance, forcing him off of his SoM.

Q

Commanders Intent?

A

My assessment of the commanders intent was to achieve maximum destruction / synchronization / tempo. I am achieving this by….
•Drawing Res for destruction, denying its use in later phases – enabling tempo
•Providing multiple passage points, providing log spt at those points and providing fire spt across the boundary, supports the FPoL, enabling tempo.
•Synchronising w/ 3MCB to the W I have kept the Div SoM intact.
•I am in a posn to handback Div assets early, enabling their reconstitution and redeployment elsewhere.
•Manouvering into depth IOT seize the decisive terrain early and therefor steal the initiative and generate tempo

Q

How are you Imposing Dilemma?

A
  • Simultaneity – multiple concurrent actions that compound the en decision cycle, forcing them to commit to a single CoA
  • Pitching an unexpected SoM – forcing him off of his plan
  • Manipulating his decision to: Deploy RES, Res Dems, WDR

Q

Explain how you see the breach occurring

A

From crossing the LD - en will be surpressed by SBFL sptd with mor, 105 and 155.
At the obstacle I see suppression & obscuration occurring concurrently w/ 105mm estab screen on the far bank - I have allocated 10mins.
With the home bank secure, rollers will detect the obstacle irregular outer edge. Once ID’d viper will come forward and execute the charge, ensuring lanes are 250m apart to mit en OS threat. Ploughs will clear the lane w/ MTMC sptng lane A for tank. - I have allocated 20mins
Aslt will commence - I have allocated 10mins for CT to passage through the lanes.

Q

Why have you dismounted SHORT / ON

A

SHORT: I saw the avenue of app onto the Obj lending itself to a mtd aslt and intend to destroy en AT wpns during prelim. I saw the open ground not favourable to infantry, making them vuln to IDF. I sought to mit this risk and maximise the terrain adv by using vehs up to the safety distance of my own OS.

ON: I saw the avenue of app onto the Obj lending itself to a mtd aslt and intend to destroy en AT wpns during prelim. I saw the open ground not favourable to infantry, making them vuln to IDF. I sought to mit this risk and maximise the terrain adv by using vehs up to the en protective obs. My assessment was, I would need vehs to spt engrs in cond the breach and therfor, wanted to weight spt around that by bringing veh’s fwd.

Q

How are you synch OS at the break-in

A

I saw Mortars and 155mm layering over SBFL direct fires to suppress the posn whilst 105mm provided obscuration, sptng the breach. Specifically I saw mortars focussing effort on the break-in point to set conditions for A coy’s fight through.
Once at RL X I saw 105 and 81mm switching to Obj SILVER.
