Ode On A Grayson Perry Urn Flashcards
1
Q
Allusion/ parody of a keatian ode
A
- postmodern twist on the dignified artistic form of the ‘ode’ in the same way that perry mocks the ancient Grecian ‘urns’
- both tackle reality and humanisation of the working class whist ancient respected art forms tend to put emphatic focus on the bourgeoise
2
Q
Structure/form
A
- very traditional rhyme scheme written in iambic pentameter which is very similar to that of Keats
- however whilst the ode is consistent there is heavy enjambent and end stops which create an input of inconsistentcity, contributing to a postmodern idea of freedom and liberty
- thus turn ball seems to insinuate that nothing is truly of consistency
