what is ODD often linked with
ODD is often linked with CD, representing a precursor condition.
Early onset of CD problems is often preceded and predicted by persistent ODD symptoms.
DSM-V diagnostic criteria of ODD

6 months as evidenced by at least four of eight symptoms from any of the following categories, and exhibited

what is the difference between CD and ODD
Unlike children with conduct disorder (CD), children with oppositional defiant disorder are not aggressive towards people or animals, do not destroy property, and do not show a pattern of theft or deceit
DSM frequency of symptoms for diagnosis
For children younger than 5 years, the behaviour should occur on most days for a period of at least 6 months.
For individuals 5 years or older, the behaviour should occur at least once per week for at least 6 months.
DSM-V specifiers of severity
Specifics of severity:
Mild: Symptoms are confined to only one setting (e.g., at home, at school, at work, with peers).
Moderate: Some symptoms are present in at least two settings.
Severe: Some symptoms are present in three or more settings.
