A
- OCD (most ppl with this diagnoses have both compulsions and obsessions)
- trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling)
- hoarding disorder
- excoriation disorder (excessive skin picking)

What are the behavioural characteristics of OCD
A
- compulsions
- avoidance (attempt to reduce/avoid anxiety by keeping away from situations that trigger it)

A
- they are repetitive
- they reduce anxiety

What are the emotional characteristics of OCD
A
- anxiety and distress
- accompanying depression
- guilt and disgust

What are the cognitive characteristics of OCD
A
- obsessive thoughts (effects 90% of OCD sufferers)
- cognitive strategies to deal with obsessions (ppl may adopt cognitive coping strategies, praying or meditating)
- insight into excessive anxiety (ppl suffering from OCD are aware that their compulsions are not rational)
