  • major depressive disorder (sever, short term)
  • persistent depressive disorder (long term, reoccurring, sustained major)
  • disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (childhood temper tantrums)
  • premenstrual dysphoric disorder (disruption to mood prior/during menstruation)

What are the behavioural characteristics of depression

A
  • activity levels (more often than not, reduced levels of energy, making them lethargic, some cases can lead to opposite effect, psychomotor agitation)
  • disruption to sleep and eating behaviour (insomnia or hypersomnia- need for sleep)
  • aggression and self harm
