What are the emotional characteristics of OCD?
A
OCD is characterised by extreme anxiety and distress as well as embarrassment or shame due to the awareness of obsessive tendencies.

What are the behavioural characteristics of OCD?
A
Obsessive behaviours are repetitive and observable, for example, hand washing may occur due to a fear of something happening. Functioning and social impairment may result due to anxiety.

What are the cognitive characteristics of OCD?
A
Recurring intrusive thoughts encouraging acts that allegedly reduce anxiety. Doubtful thoughts of fear of overlooking something. These thoughts may be recognised as inappropriate or irrational.
