Definition of ORM
A systematic decision-making process used to identify and manage hazards that endanger naval resources
1st step of ORM
Identify Hazards
List hazards associated with each step of the evolution
2nd step of ORM
Assess Hazards
determining the associated degree of risk for each identified hazard
3rd step of ORM
Make risk decisions
develop risk control options. once controls are in place decide if the benefit is worth the risk
4th step of ORM
Implement controls
use the risk control options to reduce/eliminate hazards
5th step of ORM
Supervise
conduct follow up evaluations of risks and controls to ensure success
How many classes of Mishap?
3 - A, B, C
What is a Class A mishap?
a mishap that results in 2 million dollars or more in damage, injury/illness that causes fatality or permanent total disability
What is a Class B mishap?
mishap resulting in 500 thousand dollars or more in damage. Or injury/illness that result in permanent partial disability. Or 3 or more people are hospitalized.
What is a Class C mishap?
a mishap resulting in 50 thousand to 500 thousand dollars in damage, a nonfatal injury/illness that causes loss of work for 5+ day/shifts
What is PPE?
Personal Protective Equipment
