4 - 5 weeks

Crown rump length
Standard USS measurement from 13 weeks on?
Biparietal diameter - foetal head
What foetal anomalies are detected but USS?
Neural tube defects (spina bodies, anencephaly)
Cardiac
Urinary (renal agenesis)
Skeletal dysplasias
Anterior abdominal wall defects (diaphragmatic hernia)
How is amniotic fluid made?
Mostly by feral urination
> > reduced urine output:
- GU abnormalities
- placental insufficiency
What is cervical shock?
It’s a vasovagal response to cervical distension
|»_space; in miscarriage it’s treated by removal of retained POC
What is the medical management of miscarriage?
Misoprostol
- buccal or vaginal
What does effacement of the cervix mean?
Cervix gets stretched and thinner
Indications for IOL
1) Advanced maternal age
2) Pre-labour rupture of membranes
3) Gestational diabetes
4) Multiple pregnancies
5) HTN in pregnancy
6) IUGR
Uses of misoprostol
1) Medical management of termination
2) Induction of labour
3) Post-partum haemorrhage
Pre-eclampsia diagnosis

Performed twice, at least 4 hours apart
Abnormal urine protein:creatinine
> 30
PET treatment
Advised to start aspirin from 12 weeks
Stop ACEi/ARBs
Nifedipine / labetalol
VBAC post c section
Can be successful
