What is Dry Eye Syndrome (Keratitis Sicca or Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca):
A
Significant deficiency of tears.
Deficiencies in any one layer of the tear film will be incapable of moisturizing the eye properly.

What can cause Dry Eye Syndrom?
A
Certain meds can temporarly decrease secretions: antihistamines, some anti-anxiety drugs, depression meds, hormone replacements.
Rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren’s syndrome have high association with Dry eye.

What are symptoms of Dry eye?
A
Dry, burning, gritty, foreign body sensation, excessive tearing, more prominant later in the day.

What are signs of dry eye.
A
Sclera is clear and white, Dry areas of the cornea will show with fluorescein stain.
