  • Sleep apnea –> difficult to regain consciousness
  • Finding vein to deliver drugs
  • Drug dosing changes
  • Increased surgery time (increased time for recovery and intubation and surgery itself)
  • High blood loss
  • increase risk of respiratory depression with narcotics / analgesia
  • Placing an ETT
