Risk factors:
Maternal smoking, co-sleeping, prone sleeping, arrhythmias, soft bedding, LBW, male gender, American Indian heritage

PL AGIOCEPHALY
A
Oblique or asymmetrical head
Sternocleidomastoid muscle may tighten–Torticollis may develop

APPARENT LIFE THREATENING EVENT ( ALTE)
A
•Near miss SIDS
•Infant experiencing an ALTE may exhibit
–Apnea
–Change in color or muscle tone
–Choking, gagging, or coughing
- The ALTE requires significant intervention•Infants who experience an ALTE are discharged with home apnea monitors
- Parents are taught how to administer CPR
