Explain macro and micro nutrients.
A
Both are essential for health
Macronutrients:
are larger and are weighed in grams (e.g carbohydrates, protein, fat)
Micronutrients:
are the vitamins and minerals and are weighed in micrograms needed in smaller amounts.

Is the energy it takes 1g of water to raise to 1°
kilocalorie=the measure of potential energy in a piece of food.

1 gram CHO=4 cal.

What is oxidation?
A
- reaction that takes place when oxygen has access to products containing fat or pigments.
- If fats oxidize, they produce “off” odours and flavours (stale, rancid odours)
