what is nutrition?
what you eat and what you eat is really important for health.
A balanced diet will have the right amount of the five nutrients plus
fibre and water
what is a deficiency disease?
is a disease caused by a lack of essential dietary elements and especially vitamins or minerals.
what do carbohydrates do?
To provide energy for your body. Active or growing people
need lots of carbohydrates
what do proteins do?
for growth and repair.
what do lipids do?
Lipids keep you warm and are a store of energy which you
use it if your body runs out of carbohydrates.
what do minerals, calcium, iron, and sodium do?
Needed in small amounts to maintain health. Calcium is
needed for bones and teeth. Iron is needed to carry oxygen
in your blood.
what do vitamins do?
needed in small amounts to maintain health.
what does dietary fibre do?
fibre helps food move through your digestive system.
what does water do?
Keep a normal temperature. Lubricate and cushion joints.
