1. First Nations - slavic
2. Metis - mediterranean
3. Inuit - norse region

A
umbrella term, indigenous people who lived on their land before colonization happened
- not widely accepted
- used in lots of policies

- lasted over 120 years, last one closed in 1996
- separated kids from their families to be assimilated, abuse was prominent

- caused trauma, impacted childhood development

- opened after residential schools closed
- kids suffered lots of the same abuse
