A structure for assessment that is a typology of 11 functional health patterns

Nursing Action that requires an order form another healthcare proffesional
Dependent
Action initiated by a nurse that does not require an order from another healthcare professional
Independent
Nursing action that requires collaboration with another professional/agency
Interdependent
Standardization of diagnostic labels approved by NANDA
Nursing Diagnosis
Information that comes from the client that cannot be measured
Subjective Data
Information that is observed, measured, or assessed
Objective Data
A scientific explanation of an intervention
Rationale
A pattern of behavior developed in response to the demands or expectations of others
Role
The nurse utilizes goal-directed actions and responses in the collaborative delivery of health care to clients, community, and society
Role of Caregiver
The nurse plans, organizes, guides, and coordinates the delivery of healthcare
Role of Manager
The nurse participates in a licensed occupation and functions within the standards of practice
Role of member of profession
Expected outcomes in the course of an illness
Predictable needs
Unexpected or unpredictable needs or outcomes resulting from complications of an illness
Variable Needs
Meaning that it’s the entire person, not just being without sickness (Mind, Body, Emotions, and Spirt)
Holistic
Is an impaired ability to perform or complete activities of daily living
Self-Care Deficit
A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being not merely the absence of disease
Health
Refers to the nurse’s obligation to minimize harm and practice in a way that benefits the client also means going above what is required.
Beneficence
Nurses obligation to do no harm
Nonmaleficence
Nurses obligation to provide truthful and accurate information to the client
Veracity
Nurses obligation to demonstrate loyalty to keep promises and to uphold commitments
Fidelity
Refers to nurses obligation to provide treatment, care and resource allocation that is impartial, fair and equitable to all clients regardless of age, sex, race, or economic status
Justice
The selfless concern and actions for the benefit of someone else
Altruism
Ensures that all individuals, regardless of their insurance or financial status have equal access to emergency medical care
Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act
an act or omission that causes legally cognizable harm to persons or property.
Tort
Legal documents in which a client’s decisions related to health care are documented. A written statement of a persons, wished regarding medical treatment.
Advance Directives
Is an occurrence that resulted in the permanent disability, temporary severe injury or the death of the client.
