Continuous Musical high pitched shrill sounds
wheezes
what can wheezes be associated with?
asthma, chronic bronchitis
Discontinuous popping sounds. Harsh, moist and wet ahh. Originate in the large bronchi. Associated with too much fluid
Course crackles
Very deep, low pitched, sounds like snoring. May clear with coughing.
Rhonchi
What is rhonchi associated with?
secretions and mucus
soft, sounds like rubbing hair. Discontinuous popping sounds. Originates in alveoli.
Fine crackles
Very high pitched, continuous musical sound
Stridor
What is stridor associated with?
obstruction and anaphylaxis. immediate intervention required
discontinuous, low pitched rubbing or grating like friction. may subside if patient holds their breath
pleural friction rub
what can cause pleural friction rub?
inflammation and loss of lubricating pleural fluid
