- first check
find the drawer for your patient and pull 8am meds. looking at MAR screens and then selecting the medications from the drawer
- second check
pull each med from the drawer check it against MAR

note any parameters for administering the medications, may need to navigate to VS flow sheet if needed
- enter the room
wash hands for real

introduce self and tell them what you will be doing
6.
log into EMR and select the correct patent and navigate to MAR
7.
use two patient identifiers compared to MAR SCREEN (not wrist band)
8.
ask the patent about any allergies, check allergies in MAR and compare to medications to be administered
9.
review the medications to be given including meds name and action with pt prior to opening
10.
scan computer bar code sticker
11.
scan PT id band
- third check
scan meds one at a time and check the correct dose, time, route, and med
13.
input any required data into the MAR such as parameter documentation, refusals, or other information
14.
ask the patient if they take meds all at once or one at a time
DO NOT OPEN MEDS
15.
ensure that all meds are charted given/not given and then close EMR
