Numbers which can’t be written as a fraction
What are integers?
All negative and positive numbers including 0 which are not decimals/fractions

What are natural numbers?
All numbers excluding 0 which are not decimals or fractions
What are rational numbers?
Numbers which can be written as a fraction. Decimals which terminate or repeat.

How to measure an opposite?
Two numbers must be an equal amount of units away from 0 for it to be an opposite
What is the absolute value of a number?
The absolute value is the number of units it is away from 0

How do you add a negative and a positive?
- Find absolute value of both
- Find the sign
- Subtract smaller number from larger number
- Add the sign found in step 2 to the answer of step 3
How do you find the sign?
- If the absolute value of the positive number is smaller than the absolute value of the negative number then the sign = -
- IF the absolute value of the negative number is larger than the absolute value of the positive number then the sign is +
What happens if the numbers are each others opposite?
The answer is 0

Negative if the first number is smaller than the second
