What is considered an Aircraft Accident?
A
- It is an occurance by which the aircraft is substantially damaged or a person is killed/seriously injured

What are some examples of an Aircraft Accident?
A
- Flight control system malfunction/failure
- Inability of required flight crewmember to perform their normal flight duties
- In flight fire
- Aircraft collison in flight
- An aircraft that is overdue and believed to be involved in an accident

When must an Aircraft Accident be reported?
A
- The operator of the aircraft must immediately notify the NTSB and file an accident report within 10 days

What is considered an Aircraft Incident?
A
- An occurence other than an accident which could affect or affects the safety of operations

When must an Aircraft Incident be reported?
A
- A report must be filed only if requested by the NTSB

How is mail or cargo handled regarding aircraft wreckage?
A
- Prior to the NTSB taking custody of the wreckage, mail and/or cargo may only be moved to protect the wreckage from further damage
