Default NTFS (New Technology File System) inheritance
A
- Permissions granted to a parent folder are inherited by the subfolders and files
- When files/folders are created or when a partition is formatted with NTFS, WIN Server automatically assigns default NTFS permissions.

- Inherited permissions can not be removed until inheritance is blocked
- When preventig permissions inheritance:
- Copy inherited permissions from parent folder
- Remove inherited permissions and only retain explicitly assigned permissions

Folder on which permissions inheritance is prevented becomes the new parent folder and subfolders and files contained in it inherit the permissions assigned to it.
Permissions can only be inherited from a direct parent
