DFS Flashcards
Explain
1
Q
DFS (Distributed File System)
A
- Access geographically dispersed files throughout an organisation
- WAN-friendly replication mechanism for data distribution between servers
- Used in environments where files are dispersed on multiple servers in a single location
- Hub-and-spoke or Full mesh
2
Q
DFS-N (Namespace)
*Domain-based vs stand-alone
A
- Namespace domain(WINN02)
- Name of the namespace (CCSPDEPCISADM)
- Namespace server
- Folder targets (Different folder targets from different servers)
- Delegate rights (if necessary)
3
Q
DFS-R (Replication)
A
- Ensure that contents are sync
- Sync ensures users to see the same files regardless of which folder target is referred to (diff servers)
- Backup using standard backup procedures
- Reduce cost (backup hardware and onsite IT experts)
- Fault tolerant: test from WKS with 1 server out
