NSX VPN Flashcards
What is the purpose of IPSec VPN?
IPSec VPN creates a secure communication channel over a public network, such as the Internet, to interconnect your data center with remote sites.
What is the function of Layer 2 VPN?
Layer 2 VPN extends or stretches layer 2 networks (VNIs or VLANs) across multiple sites, allowing for VM migration between sites without changing their IP addresses.
What can you connect using IPSec VPN?
IPSec VPN can be used to create a secure connection between NSX-T Data Center and a remote site, which can be another NSX-T Data Center instance, a data center running NSX Data Center for vSphere, or a data center with an IPSec gateway from a third-party vendor.
How does IPSec VPN ensure secure data transmission?
After establishing the IPSec connection, encrypted data can be securely transmitted between data centers over the Internet.
Can Layer 2 VPN connections be established between different NSX-T Data Center sites?
Yes, layer 2 VPN connections can be created between two NSX-T Data Center sites to extend VNI and VLAN networks, enabling VM mobility without changing IP addresses. Interoperability with third-party vendors is not currently supported.
