What is it?
Low back pain not attributable to a recognisable, known pathology, e.g. infection, tumour, OP, lumbar spine fracture, structural deformity, radicular syndrome

L1-L5
Largest segments of the vertebral column
Muscle anatomy
Abdominals, gluteals and leg muscles
Studies suggest that multifidus and paraspinal muscle groups are smaller in patients with chronic lbp
Epidemiology
Affects nearly 60-80% of people throughout their lifetime

Self limiting condition
Causes
Even though the pathology is unknown, it can be caused by traumatic injury
Lumbar sprain/strain
Postural strain
Clinical Presentation
All age groups can be affected
Frequent relapses
Obesity is a strong predictor
